Weaver Vale Housing Trust reached £100,000,000 milestone
Thousands of homes across West-Cheshire have received new bathrooms, kitchens, windows and other key improvements thanks to a major investment by Weaver Vale Housing Trust.
The Trust has completed £100,000,000 worth of improvements to its homes across Northwich, Winsford and Frodsham, since it was formed in 2002.
The milestone was reached after work was completed at the home of 81-year-old Maurice Henshall, from Frodsham, who has received a new kitchen, bathroom, and combi-boiler as well as improvements to the exterior walls, doors, and windows in recent years.
Mr Henshall, who has lived in Ship Street for the past 30 years, said the work done to his home had made a real difference to his quality of life.
He said: “The new kitchen and bathroom are much more spacious and modern than what I had before and all the improvements to my home have helped to make it more safe, secure, and comfortable, which at my age gives me great peace of mind. The Trust has more or less completely refurbished my home from the ground floor up and I am extremely grateful for the work they have done.”
To mark the occasion Weaver Vale Housing Trust’s Chief Executive Steve Jennings and new Weaver Vale MP Graham Evans visited Mr Henshall’s home to see the difference (see photo above).
Steve Jennings said: “The opportunity to meet customers like Mr Henshall and hear how the Trust’s work makes a difference to their lives is very rewarding. This visit is even more special as we reach the £100,000,000 figure for investment in our property improvements, which is a hugely important achievement. Since the Trust was set up in 2002 we have put a great deal of focus into making sure that our properties are the best possible standard for our customers and we will continue to make this our very highest priority in the years to come.”
Since 2002 the Trust has installed over 2,400 kitchens, 2,000 bathrooms, 2,000 doors, and 2,000 central heating systems.
Speaking at the visit to Mr Henshall’s home, Graham Evans MP also spoke highly of the important property improvement work that Weaver Vale Housing Trust is carrying out to its customers’ homes.
Graham said "I am delighted to be here today to celebrate this milestone, which represents thousands of new kitchens, bathrooms and other improvements which have made such a difference to the quality of life for so many of my constituents. I will be working closely with the Weaver Vale Housing Trust to fight for a fairer deal for all social housing tenants."
